About the Journal

The Journal of International and Prospective Studies is a double-anonymous, peer-reviewed journal published by Ibn Tofail University (Morocco) and managed by the Scientific Publication Support Centre. The journal publishes scholarly contributions across the full breadth of the field of International Relations, from theoretical debates to topics of contemporary and historical significance. The journal provides a platform for scholarly debate and analysis among researchers from the Global North and Global South. We encourage authors to engage in some meaningful way with political, economic, social, or cultural processes that cross the borders of states. To this end, the journal advocates for an open dialectical approach that can bring together the multitude of competing, overlapping, or interpenetrating conceptions of the global international order.

Articles published in our journal address explanatory puzzles, feature original research, explore topics in International Relations, or engage in disciplinary debates. While these articles often have policy implications – which authors are encouraged to highlight – these implications are secondary to their scholarly purposes. The journal aims to be a platform where a range of perspectives can thrive, where excellent research is showcased and discussed, and where narratives and voices in these discussions come from a global community.

The journal defines itself as critical, interdisciplinary, and multi-paradigmatic, combining conceptual study, political analysis, and foresight. It does not adhere to any specific theoretical, geographical, political, methodological, or epistemological stance. Emphasising theoretically aware empirical analysis and conceptual innovation, the journal aims to disseminate International Relations scholarship throughout the academic community without being confined to any particular school or approach.
