ORCID

ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is a non-proprietary alphanumeric code to uniquely identify authors and contributors of scholarly communication as well as ORCID’s website and services to look up authors and their bibliographic output (and other user-supplied pieces of information and metadata).

We require all corresponding authors to identify themselves using ORCID when submitting a manuscript to this journal. ORCID provides a unique identifier for researchers and, through integration with key research workflows such as manuscript submission and grant applications, provides the following benefits:

Discoverability

ORCID increases the discoverability of your publications by enabling smarter publisher systems and helping readers to reliably find work that you have authored. By having an ORCID iD, your research outputs are more easily searchable and distinguishable from those of others, ensuring that you receive proper recognition for your contributions.

Convenience

As more organisations adopt ORCID, providing your ORCID iD or using it to register for services will automatically link activities to your ORCID record. This integration allows you to share this information with other systems and platforms you use, saving you the trouble of re-entering information multiple times. ORCID simplifies the process of maintaining an accurate and comprehensive record of your research activities.

Keeping Track

Your ORCID record is a convenient place to store and, if you choose, share validated information about your research activities and affiliations. This centralised record helps you keep track of your career achievements, collaborations, and contributions, making it easier to manage your professional profile and present it to the world.

Unique Identification

Each researcher gets a unique 16-digit alphanumeric code that is globally recognised. This ensures that your research outputs are correctly attributed to you, avoiding confusion with other researchers who may have similar names.

Standardisation

ORCID helps standardise researcher identification across the academic and research community. This standardisation facilitates collaboration and ensures proper attribution of work, fostering a more connected and transparent research ecosystem.

If you don’t already have an ORCID iD, you will need to create one if you decide to submit a manuscript to this journal. You can register for one directly from your user account on Editorial Manager, or alternatively via https://ORCID.org/register.

If you already have an ORCID iD, please use this when submitting your manuscript, either by linking it to your Editorial Manager account, or by supplying it during submission. This ensures that your work is correctly attributed and linked to your professional profile, enhancing the visibility and impact of your research.
